Camping in Utah's Boulder Mountains

Had a recent camping trip with some 16-17 yr old scouts into the Boulder Moutains in Utah. We camped at just over 10,000 feet above sea level. Found a great place to camp along the Row Lakes and had some good fishing.

Below is "Hotel Tolman". I built this trailer during the winter and was able to take this tent on a test run. I plan on purchasing a tent like this to go on the trailer, although I need one slightly larger. Worked out great and was extremely comfortable.

Sunset on the Row Lakes.

Fish were jumping all over the lake so we thought we'd do well with flies, but we had better luck with lures. The best luck was had using a Rapala lure.

I caught several fish using the Rapala and one of them jumped clear of the water as soon as I set the hook. It fought for a few minutes then jumped again, straight out of the water and into the lap of one of the boys who was in the canoe with me. The other hook caught his leg and he wrestled with the fish for a few minutes as it flopped around and set the hook deeper into his leg. Pretty funny moment actually.

Fishing in the early morning mist on the Row Lakes.

Very peaceful fishing in the early morning with lots of fish jumping and just the sound of a breeze and a few frogs singing in the grass.

Two of the boys we had with us. The one on the left has muscular distrophy so we were limited with the activities we could do. He has a great attitude about it all and really does his best to do as much as he can. We had a great time with him.

  1. I love your little trailer. I've got a trailer project going on too, but it must wait until after summer to get finished.
    cheers-
